The Urban League of Madison County, Inc. is a non-for-profit 501 C 3 community based organization that has existed and served constituents in the Anderson, Indiana Community since 1926. The target population is African Americans, but services are open to all persons living in our community.
The Urban League serve individuals and groups through various services and programs. Some of the services and programs that has been offered is; housing education, job readiness, energy assistance, teen pregnancy prevention/intervention classes, responsible fatherhood program, and others, former Head Start program grantee for 28 years. Presently the Urban League maintains an up to date job board, offer GED preparation classes, after school tutoring, summer youth education programming, and is a part of a federal program called Weed and Seed.
Due to the state of the economy in America it is becoming more and more difficult to acquire funding to cover administration cost and to keep programs running, therefore the Urban League needs community help. Please give some consideration to how you and your organization can offer support. It can be through stoping by talking to personal, volunteering, material donations (notebooks, pencils, ink pens, puzzles, crayons, etc...), and, or money.
As the Urban League looks to the future, funding through grants, businesses, and private donations, will continue to play an important role in continuing services, but the emerging economy of the future dictates that the Urban League create avenues through which it develops economic self-sufficiency. This has to become a major focus of the organization for the future, discovering how it can become self-sufficient.
If you or your organization has similar interest as the Urban League's, contact the League with ideas and or donations to help it continue programs and services that empower individuals to become more self-sufficient.
